            A World-Class, High-Altitude Ski Holiday Resort

Val d’Isere is one of the best skiing holiday locations for a reason. It has one of the best snow records in Europe with a very long season running from late November until early May. The ski area offers over 300kms of pistes, served by around 80 lifts and links neighbouring Tignes to offer some of the highest skiing in Europe.

The modern lift system gives access to amazing skiing with world class off-piste runs, gentle beginner slopes and everything in between. With skiing up to 3,456m and almost guaranteed snow; this is truly a world-class ski resort!

            Who Val d’Isère Suits

            Beginners

Val d’Isère is kinder to beginners than its expert reputation suggests. There are free nursery lifts in the village and a dedicated beginner area at the top of the Solaise gondola, so first-timers learn on gentle, snow-sure slopes at altitude rather than on tired valley snow. Ski school meeting points are a short walk from all of our chalets.

            Intermediates

This is where Val d’Isère excels. Long blues and reds run from Bellevarde down to La Daille, and most of the relaxed cruising sits above 2,500m, which keeps the snow in good condition all season. Confident intermediates can cross to Tignes and back in a day without repeating a run.

            Experts

The Face de Bellevarde, the 1992 Olympic downhill, drops nearly 1,000 vertical metres back into the village. Beyond the pistes, Val d’Isère offers some of the finest lift-served off-piste in the Alps, including the Col Pers route from the Pissaillas glacier. Always take a qualified guide, and ask our chalet team for recommendations.

Lift Passes, Ski School & Season Dates

The Tignes-Val d’Isère area lift pass covers all 300km of pistes across both resorts, and you can arrange your passes through us when you book.

The season is one of the longest in the Alps, typically running from late November to early May thanks to the resort height of 1,850m and skiing up to 3,456m on the glaciers.

Ski school and equipment hire are easy to arrange in resort, and our team can point you to the right ski school for your group when you book. Lessons for peak weeks such as February half term sell out early, so book these with your holiday rather than on arrival.

Located at 1,850m, Val d’Isere has more traditional Alpine charm than many resorts with parts of the ‘Vieux Village’ dating back to 1664. Despite having expanded over the years the town retains its character with newer developments generally using natural stone and wood.

This resort has a deserved reputation as a great place for food, drink and socialising. There are nearly 100 different places to eat and drink when you include those on the mountain. Be sure to visit La Folie Douce if you fancy a mountain party accompanied by dancers and musicians; it’s an experience few venues can rival.

The partly pedestrianised town centre is lively in the evenings offering a huge choice of après ski options from a quiet drink to partying until 4am if you’ve the energy! Bananas or Dick’s Tea Bar are always a popular option. There’s a free bus that runs until the early hours in high season throughout the resort for the night owls. It is no surprise that Val d’Isere ski holidays are so loved.
