Resort Stats

One of the best ski resorts to visit to be sure of a long, snow-sure season!

The main resort on the edge of Le Lac sits at an altitude of 2100m, above it is the Grande Motte Glacier, which rises to a heady 3456m. The resort was made with skiers in mind, so access to the slopes is fantastic. Tignes is famous for its off-piste skiing and has many classic runs to challenge the best skier or boarder. There is also a half pipe, boardercross and freeriding.

This is a relatively affordable French ski resort, which features a vibrant nightlife, and the slopes themselves have an impressive variety of restaurants. The ski area is easily linked to neighbouring Val d’Isere.

Our chalets are located in superb positions and many offer a truly ski-in-ski-out experience. Tignes is justifiably world famous and our guests can expect world-class skiing and excellent accommodation to suit!

All of our ski chalet holiday packages include travel from London Heathrow to Lyon and airport transfers.

The transfer from Lyon airport to Tignes is approximately 2hrs 45mins.

For guests wishing to travel to your Tignes ski holiday by train, the nearest station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice. A transfer from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Tignes takes approximately 40 minutes.

Driving is another option and we are able to supply detailed directions. The driving time from Calais is around 10 hours. We recommend Eurotunnel FlexiPlus** service that gives greater flexibility and avoids boarding queues.

You can generally expect base snow depths of around 1m+ and in excess of 1.8m on the upper slopes.

Quality and cover are generally very good from the start to the end of the season.

The Grande Motte glacier nearly always has excellent snow conditions.

Non Skiing Activities

When the skiing is over for the day, Tignes has an impressive range of non-skiing activities. Swimming, climbing, and ice skating are all available, as is a wide selection of bars and restaurants.

At Tignes le Lac you’ll find the Tignespace sports centre and the Lagon swimming pool. Guests can walk over the frozen ‘Le Lac’ to Val Claret using clearly mapped paths. Ice skating on the lake is very popular and many like to hire nets for a game of ice hockey.

Those with a real passion for the cold can dip their toes for an ice dive under the lake. Or maybe you fancy a husky ride or a night time ski to take in the twinkling lights of the surrounding area. The Tignespace complex has a climbing wall that’s free. Or you can rent out a space to play football, tennis, badminton and squash.
