Resort Overview
Located at 1,850m, Val d’Isère has more traditional Alpine charm than many resorts, with parts of the ‘Vieux Village’ dating back to 1664. Despite having expanded over the years, the town retains its character, with newer developments generally using natural stone and wood.
Val d’Isère has a deserved reputation as a great resort for food, drink and socialising, with nearly 100 different places to eat and drink when you include those on the mountain. The partly pedestrianised town centre is lively in the evenings, offering a huge choice of après-ski options from a quiet drink to partying until the early hours. There’s also a free bus that runs throughout the resort, ideal when you’re travelling with the family.
