Ski Season Jobs for UK Passport Holders
Since Brexit, most British citizens no longer have an automatic right to work in France, and many operators now recruit only EU passport holders. We take a different view. If you hold a UK passport and are offered a role with us, we apply for your French work permit and organise your visa before you travel. You handle the biometrics appointment; we handle the paperwork and the timelines.
We also welcome returning seasonaires with a Carte de Séjour, EU nationals, dual British/EU citizens and working holiday visa holders with the right to work in France.
The loss of freedom of movement because of Brexit means that most British citizens no longer have the automatic right to work in France. As a result, we have adapted and expanded our opportunities for other nationalities because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to work ski season jobs France.
We look to employ the following:
- Returning seasonaires with a Carte de Séjour or Carte pluriannuelle
- EU nationals from any of the EU 27 member states
- Dual nationality British/EU citizens
- Other nationalities with the right to work in France
- Young traveller visa holders (working holiday) e.g. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, with French residency and the right to work
- British citizens (we apply for a work permit and visa for you)

The Roles
Chalet Host. The heart of the operation. You will cook and serve breakfasts, bake for afternoon tea and host three-course dinner parties for up to 12 guests, keeping the chalet warm, clean and welcoming. Confidence in the kitchen matters more than certificates.
Chef and Hotel Chef. Lead the menu in our larger properties, catering for guests who expect proper food after a big day on the mountain.
Childcarer. Look after our youngest guests so their parents can ski. A recognised childcare qualification is required.

Can I do a ski season with a UK passport after Brexit?
Yes. Ski Vertigo is one of the few operators that recruits British citizens and applies for the French work permit and visa on your behalf. You do not need EU citizenship to work a season with us.
What ski season jobs are available?
Chalet hosts, chefs and childcarers across our resorts in the Tarentaise Valley, including Tignes, Val d’Isère, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and La Plagne.
When does the season start and finish?
The season covers the full winter, with paid pre-season training in resort before the first guests arrive. Assessment days take place through the summer, so apply early for the best choice of role and resort.
Do I need to be a qualified chef to be a chalet host?
No. We look for confident home cooks who enjoy hosting. Full paid training is provided in resort before the season starts.
How much will I earn and what is included?
A competitive salary with holiday pay, a travel contribution to and from France, shared staff accommodation to rent, two days off a week, uniform, medical travel insurance for UK and EU employees, and preferential prices for lift passes and equipment hire.
Can my partner or friend apply with me?
Yes, tell us when you apply. Chalets and hotels need more than one pair of hands, and we will consider placements together where we can.
