            The Villages of Tignes

Tignes is not one village but five, linked by lifts and a free shuttle bus. Val Claret sits highest at 2,300m with the fastest access to the Grande Motte glacier and the liveliest après bars. Tignes Le Lac, at 2,100m beside the frozen lake, is the heart of the resort, and our chalets sit here and in neighbouring Le Lavachet, with the main lift hubs a short walk away.

Le Lavachet is quieter and only a few minutes from Le Lac, while Tignes 1800 and the old Savoyard village of Les Brévières at 1,550m offer tree-lined runs and a calmer evening pace. Wherever you stay, the full 300km of the Tignes-Val d’Isère ski area is on your doorstep.

Skiing in Tignes for Every Level

            Beginners

Each village has its own nursery slopes, and nine free lifts across the resort mean you can find your feet before buying a full pass. The blues on the Grande Motte glacier are wide, gentle and come with some of the best views in the Alps.

            Intermediates

This is where Tignes excels. Around 147km of cruisey blues and testing reds run through the area, including the long Double M from the glacier down to Val Claret. The lift system is fast and modern, so you spend the day skiing rather than queuing.

            Advanced and Off-Piste

From the 3,456m top of the Grande Motte, the terrain opens into some of the most extensive off-piste in Europe. La Sache drops 10km from the Aiguille Percée to Les Brévières through steep pitches and moguls, and the Trolles run gives a fast, steep descent back towards Le Lac.

            Getting to Tignes

Our Tignes holidays include return flights and resort transfers, flying from London to Lyon with a coach transfer of around two hours forty-five minutes up the Tarentaise Valley. The resort is also served by Geneva, Chambéry and Grenoble for those making their own way out. If you prefer the rails, the Eurostar ski train runs to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, about forty minutes below the resort, and self-drive from Calais takes around ten hours.

            Lift Passes and Extras

The pass worth having is the full Tignes-Val d’Isère area pass: it covers every lift on both sides of the mountain and opens up the whole 300km. We can arrange lift passes, equipment hire and ski school alongside your chalet booking, so everything is settled before you fly.
