Tucked among snow-dusted pine trees, Plagne 1800 is a charming village nestled into the heart of the iconic Paradiski ski area. Once a former mining village, it now offers a peaceful base with quick access to 425km of skiing. La Plagne is ideal for families and beginners, as well as life long skiers with its mixture of cruisy blues and glacier black runs.
Chalet Petit Chardon sits at 1800m and is just a short walk from the piste and two chairlifts. One lift gives you easy access to Plagne Centre and Bellecote, whilst the other offers access to Aime 2000 and Montalbert. You can also explore the full extent of the Paradiski ski area by taking the Vanoise Express and heading over to Peisey-Vallandry and Les Arcs.

La Plagne is made up of 11 charming villages, each offering something unique to enhance your ski holiday. From lively Après-ski spots to quiet, scenic corners perfect for families, every village has its own character. A La Plagne ski holiday is bursting with an abundance of activities on and off the piste. You can spend your days exploring over 425 km of linked slopes, trying ice skating, or simply soak up the sunshine at one of the many piste-side restaurants!
All our ski holidays are fully catered, so you can relax and enjoy every moment. Breakfasts, afternoon teas and cakes, evening meals, and wine are all included, meaning you can focus on the skiing, the scenery, and the memories you’re creating, without any of the stress of meal planning.
La Plagne is not one village but eleven, strung between 1,250m and 2,100m. Plagne Centre, the original 1961 resort, has the widest choice of shops and services. Belle Plagne and Plagne 1800 are the prettiest, built in traditional chalet style, while Plagne Aime 2000 is a convenient, laid-back base popular with families. Lower down, tree-lined Montchavin, Les Coches and Montalbert give sheltered skiing on stormy days, and Champagny-en-Vanoise faces the Vanoise National Park on the sunny side of the hill.
Our chalets, Grand Chardon and Petit Chardon, sit in Plagne 1800, a former mining village that is now the quiet, wooded corner of the resort. You are a short walk from the piste and two chairlifts, one lift from Plagne Centre, and the whole Paradiski area opens up from there.

La Plagne is a firm favourite for good reason. As part of the vast Paradiski area, it offers over 400km of linked pistes with incredible variety and high-altitude snow reliability. Our chalets in Plagne 1800 are tucked in a peaceful corner of the resort, with direct access to the slopes and just one lift away from the main La Plagne hub at Plagne Centre. From here, you can easily explore the wider area, including the dramatic Bellecôte glacier and the tree-lined runs of Montchavin and Les Coches.
La Plagne reflects traditional alpine architecture, with charming wood-clad chalets scattered across its 11 villages and nestled among the trees. The area offers stunning views across the valleys. Throughout La Plagne, you’ll find friendly local restaurants serving hearty Savoyard dishes, as well as a variety of shops, bars, and cafés, making it easy to enjoy everything from a quick coffee to a leisurely meal after a day on the slopes.
La Plagne’s skiing caters to every level – from gentle beginner slopes and wide cruisy blues, to steep reds, thrilling blacks, and plenty of off-piste for the adventurous. Whether you’re here to build confidence or chase powder, La Plagne delivers the goods.
All of our chalet packages include our London Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester flights to Lyon along with airport transfers by coach. The transfer from Lyon airport to La Plagne is approximately 2hrs 45mins. For guests wishing to travel by train, the nearest station is Aime La Plagne.
A transfer from Aime La Plagne to Plagne 1800 takes approximately 30 minutes. Driving to La Plagne is another option and we are able to supply detailed directions. The driving time from Calais is around 10 hours. We recommend Eurotunnel FlexiPlus** service that gives greater flexibility and avoids boarding queues.
The skiing in Plagne 1800, La Plagne and the wider Paradiski area is nothing short of amazing. Few destinations around the world can offer such a wide diversity of terrain and pistes, whilst also providing the opportunity to visit another resort in the same day. There are stunning views around every corner, wide and gentle pistes, challenging off piste and snow parks. It’s a mountain paradise.
Figures quoted are for the Paradiski area as a whole.
La Plagne is a true snow-lover’s paradise, renowned for its reliable high-altitude conditions. Each season, the resort typically receives around 6 metres of snowfall at 2,000 m, with exceptional years topping 9 metres, ensuring excellent coverage across its vast ski area.
Snowfall is most abundant in mid-winter, building a solid base of over 2 metres on the upper slopes, and conditions often remain superb well into spring. From the first lifts in December to the final runs after Easter, La Plagne’s north-facing and high-altitude pistes consistently offer top-quality snow for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
La Plagne is far more than its pistes, and a rest day here is easy to fill. Here are some favourites, and our team will happily point you in the right direction when you book.
La Plagne’s bobsleigh track is the only one in France, built for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. Riding it is an unforgettable experience; ask our chalet team about the current descent options when you book.
Take the lift towards the Bellecôte glacier to walk through a grotto of sculptures carved from snow and ice, a favourite with children and photographers alike.
Not strictly an activity, but the double-decker cable car linking La Plagne to Les Arcs is a ride worth taking for its own sake, with huge views as it crosses the valley.
La Plagne’s own network covers around 225km of pistes, and the Paradiski area pass adds Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry for 425km in total, linked by the Vanoise Express cable car.
Yes, it is one of the best in France. Every village has its own nursery area, blue runs lead back to the villages, and 80% of the groomed pistes are blue or red, ideal for building confidence. It is a natural fit for family ski holidays and group ski holidays alike.
The villages sit between about 1,250m and 2,100m, and lifts reach the Bellecôte glacier at 3,250m, so snow is reliable from December to late April.
Our packages include flights from Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester to Lyon and a coach transfer of around 2 hours 45 minutes. By rail, Aime-La-Plagne station is roughly 30 minutes from Plagne 1800. Geneva and Chambéry are alternatives, with coach transfers of roughly 2 hours 15 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes.
