Tignes is one of the best ski resorts to visit at Christmas to be sure of a long, snow-sure season.
The main resort on the edge of Le Lac sits at an altitude of 2100m, and above it is the Grande Motte Glacier, which rises to 3456m.
The resort was developed with skiers in mind, so access to the slopes is great. Tignes is famous for its off-piste skiing and has many classic runs to challenge the best skier or boarder. There is also a half pipe, boardercross and freeriding.
Tignes is a relatively affordable French ski resort and there are a wide variety of restaurants on the slopes and nightlife options in the resort itself. The ski area is linked to neighbouring Val D’Isere.
