Planning your next ski holiday? Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a first-time visitor to the Alps, staying in ski chalets is one of the most popular and comfortable ways to enjoy your winter break. At Ski Vertigo, we get asked lots of questions about our catered ski chalets in France, so we’ve compiled a list of the most common FAQs to help you prepare for your perfect alpine escape.
Here are the top 10 questions we’re asked about ski chalet holidays , along with everything you need to know when booking your dream ski trip in ski chalets 2026 and beyond.
A ski chalet holiday is a type of winter getaway where you stay in a chalet-style accommodation close to the ski slopes. These chalets are typically Alpine lodges made from wood and stone, offering a cosy, homely atmosphere. Most guests choose catered ski chalets, which include meals, housekeeping, and sometimes even transport to the lifts. Thankfully our chalets are so close to the piste that we don’t need to worry about that last point! If it’s ski in/ ski out you’re looking for then check out our ski chalets in Val Thorens.
A catered ski chalet usually includes:
Daily breakfast (We include a hot option 5 days a week!)
Afternoon tea with cakes (every day!)
A three evening meal with wine (We also offer canapés and aperitifs!)
Housekeeping and chalet host service (Our hosts are on hand 6 days a week!)
At Ski Vertigo, we ensure our guests enjoy hearty, delicious meals and warm hospitality, so all you have to worry about is getting the first lift up the mountain.

France is home to some of the best ski resorts in the world, including the Three Valleys, Tignes-Val d’Isere, and Paradiski. The country offers a fantastic mix of snow reliability, vast terrain, charming villages, and world-class infrastructure, all of which are easily accessed from UK and European airports.
When choosing from our ski chalets in France, consider:
Group size: Chalets vary from intimate 6-person lodges to larger 20+ guest properties.
Ski ability: Some chalets are ski-in/ski-out, while others require a short walk or shuttle.
Resort amenities: Check if the resort suits your après-ski style or family-friendly needs.
Budget: Catered chalets offer different levels of luxury and service to match your price range.
Absolutely! Many of our ski chalets are perfect for families, especially when if you have older children and teenagers. For younger children, check out our sister company Ski Famille, who offer family-sized rooms, early children’s meals, childcare and ski school. Their chalets even come with playrooms, entertainment systems and many have hot-tubs to keep everyone happy after a day on the slopes.

For peak weeks like Christmas, New Year, and February half-term, we recommend booking ski chalets 2026 as early as possible, ideally 9–12 months in advance. If you need to book a little bit closer to the time then you’ll tend to find better availability and value, around January or March, when snow conditions are still excellent, but demand is lower.
Prices of ski chalet holidays vary vastly depending on the resort, time of year, and chalet quality. The packages also vary in price depending on if they include the flights and transfers, which are often the most expensive part of booking the holiday.
UK school holidays can be more expensive than ‘low season’ weeks which are often in January and March. If you can squeeze in a holiday between these peak weeks then you’ll be able to find some fab deals and get away for less! We have ski deals available all throughout the year so if you want to lock in a discount now, then head over to our ski deals page and check them out!

Most of the time, yes, but we can help! At Ski Vertigo, we offer assistance with lift pass bookings, ski hire, and lessons. When you reserve your holiday, you can add them all on, ensuring everything is organised in one hassle free package. When you arrive at the chalet, your lift passes will be hand delivered to you and you’ll be taken by your chalet host round to collect your equipment hire. Our local partners in resort have been working with us for years and are experts and finding the best equipment for each of our guests.
We are also partnered with local ski schools and will book you and your group into appropriate private or group lessons for the week. If you are travelling with children then that’s no bother at all either, we can have them signed up for ski school so you can enjoy some adult ski time, whilst they find their feet on the mountain!
Yes, just let us know your dietary requirements when booking and our reservations team will pass on your details and requirements to the team in resort.
